About Pat D:

I am retired and 69 years old…Sometimes I feel much older and at times much younger…I spent nearly fifty years in the business world, mostly in the management and executive functions of a Fortune 500 corporation and then about 14 years running a consulting company specialized in human behavior and motivation…Hobbies are observing human behavior, motorcycling, gardening, and woodworking; humans are by far the most interesting and motorcycling the most exciting.

I came very close to agreeing with this post, Severed...Just a few issues; 1) The meltdown, as you called it, was not caused by the free enterprise system...It was caused by a the perfect storm of ...

Commented: About Pat D's answer

Severed; I said that the government has a heavy influence in the purchase decisions in the textbook industry and your post agrees; most teachers work for the government…The pre-college texts are ...

Commented: About Dawg's answer

If your plan became law, MikeC, it would mean that the government would become less of an umpire and more of a coach because they would be "calling the plays" instead of just defining the boundaries ...

Commented: About Pat D's answer

I notice a glaring omission in your post, Severed; the consumer...That is the element of the free enterprise system that you ignored and that factor was also one of the causes of the auto industry's ...

Commented: About Dawg's answer

I agree with you about the actuarial capabilities of insurance companies, MikeC, and about their risk assessment and that is why I do not believe that they are trying to bilk the consumer...The better ...

"Pat D: Of course, I appreciate your economic and even political views (they go hand in hand, when you think about it, don't they?). What I enjoy and appreciate most of all is your acute intelligence. Oh, if we could just get some more professors here on this website. Do you know anyone? I had wanted to make this short and sweet, but now I am not going to do so. I am certain that you are fully cognizant of Napolean Hill and his teachings.
