Are you checking mail at mail.aol.com? Make sure you browser security settings are set to defaults. You must allow cookies and JavaScript in order to sign in to AOL Webmail.

Sign in to mail.aol.com and under Settings | Compose | Sending choose to uncheck box next to Automatically add email addresses to Contacts.
