It's fine to be either slow or fast. Whatever you do, don't be "half fast!"
About old engineer:

Perhaps I could best be described as an anachronism, a person of another age: when engineers had "hands on" analytical abilities and spent as much time in the field as they did in the office.

Born in Louisiana, spent some time in Utah, and lived most of my life in Texas before retiring in 2003 to 14 acres in the beautiful Ouachita Mountains of Arkansas where I still do a small amount of pro bono engineering along with other pursuits. I enjoy writing (book in progress), silversmithing, woodcarving, and other woodwoorking projects when not fly fishing.

Began my engineering career with Thiokol Chemical Corporation where I was involved in design, installation, and start up of one of a kind equipment for producing solid fuel rocket engines. Later spent 27 years with a Dallas based Fortune 500 company involved in cement, mining, and steel production where the design and hands on construction of heavy industrial plants graduated into full fledged corporate project management before easing into even higher management roles.

Leaving that environment with a severe case of burnout after 27 years, I spent two years building and starting up a tourist railrod in Ft Worth, Texas that featured restoration of an 1897 vintage steam locomotive. Attaining the interim presidency of that company, the challenge was over so I departed...obstensively in retirement.

After spending a year on the national arts and craft show tour, I opened a small consulting service that specialized in trouble shooting, designing, and constructing plants that produced and distributed cement, prepackaged concrete mixes, brick, ready mix, and concrete aggregates.

I have been blessed with an interesting and challenging life!
