I think a good mechanic with a good machine can spot the area of trouble, with the readings they get it nails the problem. Your guy might not really have proper gear.

all depends if you can, if its a hydraulic clutch there is no adjustment, if its manual there will be a rod underneath that you can adjust.

Are you talking about the second party who transported you to the hospital? Were they anyway responsible for the accident, or are you just looking for someone on which you can shift the blame?

When was the last time it was changed? These need to be changed as well as the engine. Radiator's also need to be cleaned and rear ends. It's the biggest reason cars fail.
